William Gottlieb Management Co.
Before he died in 1999, William Gottlieb assembled an empire of more than 150 small Downtown properties. Gottlieb primarily focused on the West Village and Meatpacking District, including the historic 19th-century Keller Hotel, property near the High Line and premier addresses on Bleecker Street. And he never sold. His business strategy paid off as the Village became gentrified and his holdings appreciated in value. Real estate professionals assess that Gottlieb's estate is estimated to range between a few hundred million dollars to more than $1 billion. Today, the William Gottlieb Management Company is still run from their original Hudson Street office in the West Village.
